Is all government evil?

The united states constitution was adopted by men from the states voting to ratify it into existence. It is said to be the supreme law of the land. It is believed to give citizens "rights". Is is held up to an exalted status, as shown by the technology used to preserve the document itself and the reverence that people give it (like swearing to uphold it).

But what is it? It was said to be written to form a central government to conduct the business for the states that the states could not accomplish independently. To be a subserviant entity, that has very limited power. That is what the constitution was said to be written for: to limit the power of the federal government. To spell out what it could do, and that it couldn't do anything else. It also stated for all to see, that men and women have all their rights from their creator, and that government should not infringe on those rights.

In theory, all of this sounds wonderful. But as we know, things are not always as they seem.

When one looks at it in a completely neutral position, free of bias (very hard for adults to do), even a republic (we don't have a democracy, but a republic) is inherently evil. It is imposing the will of a group on others. It is morally wrong to force someone to do, or not to do, something against their wishes. If the majority of people vote in support of something that is considered by someone to be morally wrong, they are forced to contribute and support it by their taxes paying for it. A christian is forced to pay for abortions by taxes. A pacifist is forced to buy war machines and pay soldiers to kill people, again by supporting it with their taxes. The list goes on and on.

The idea that someone can be a representative of a population is also impossible and wrong. A large group will never agree on anything, therefore they are not representing everyone. So if one is in a minority on a topic, their wishes do not matter.

So what do we do? Some would say that government is a necessary evil. Well the evil part is right. Now what about the necessary part? Is a form of government truly needed? Could mankind, left alone, learn to act in harmony and create a symbiotic relationship with itself? Or would it ultimately destroy itself?

I believe that our answer lies in the book of Samuel, chapter 8:

But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee. Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them. And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king. And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots. And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants. And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work. He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants. And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day. Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.

I believe that God's plan is for us to live in harmony with each other, and to look to him for our needs, wants, morality, and laws. He did not want His people to be ruled by anyone else but Him. He is a jealous god. A man cannot do a better job that God. And what right does one man have to rule over another. If we are all God's children, why should one child rule over their brothers and sisters?

I have much more on this topic, but I will open the floor to anyone who wishes to agree or disagree with what has been said to this point.

The U.S. needs a more laissez-faire economy, but should step up its funds for education.

The government can be evil at times with all its corruption, but is needed to some degree.

If the U.S. government was to try and keep up its illusion of legitimacy, then it would have to follow its own rules and laws. It does not.

The founders stated that things like charity and such, should come from the individual, and not from stealing (in the form of taxes to fund these items).

Education is for parents to inpart in their children, as it not the responsibility of others. That is one of the major flaws with government: that people learn to rely on it for things that they should be providing for themselves.

The reason that the U.S. economy has prospered is that they have had less regulation than other countries. But it could be even better if they kept their paws out of people's business.
