Basis for beliefs
Permalink

My foundation for my belief system is as follows:

I believe with all my heart, soul, and mind that the one called GOD in the old testament of the bible created all of the universe. He came to earth (while still being all-encompassing in the universe) in man-form around 2000 years ago. He called himself Jesus. He taught mankind that the two most important things to do was to love Him, and to love others. Believing in Him (and therefore following those two commandments) is the path to living eternally with Him.

The thousands of laws, rules, etc. that were in the old testament of the bible were written for Israel alone. They were a covenant between God and them, and were needed to separate them from the world, and to keep them safe. But when Jesus died in earthly form, that covenant with them was broken, and a new and better one was available to them and everyone else.

I do not believe that organized religion (denominations, etc.) are following God's will. They have all soldout to the beast, and they allow the beast to tell them who to ordain, marry, hire as workers; what to talk about, where to worship, and let the beast steal the substance from the body.

I do not go to a "church", as us believers in Christ are the body, or church. The body of Christ is not a physical building. That is why people scoffed when Jesus said that he would rebuild the temple in three days. Man has a way of always thinking too literal.

My so-called "patriot" ideas (but more accurately just loving my neighbor, and wanting them to have the freedom to live their lives) stem from these beliefs in God (not to be confused with "religious beliefs"). Religion is just man's rules on how to please God.

Do real Christians exist. How can one call themselves a Christian and then rationalize that it is alright to go to war for a bunch of people called government. Think seriously about what I just said. The government is made up of people. Please point out to me when Jesus ever told anyone to go to war. I am having a hard time finding that particular passage. Yet many Christians believe that it is okay to do as man tells them and completely ignore the teachings of Christ. To be Christian, means to try and be Christ like. Somewhere in a majority of Christian mind there is a disconnect between Jesus' teaching and their actions based on his teaching.

You will be held accountable for your tresspasses, especially when you know it transgress his teachings and particularly if you continue to do it over and over again.

People use Israel in the old testament as validation. But their wars were DIRECTLY ordered by God to THE prophet at the time. God showed that they were ordained by Him by miracles taking place at the battles:

Little teenager David kills the toughest man in an army of giants

The walls of Jerico tumble down from praising God and singing

Enemies in disarray, killed each other the day before battle with Israel, etc.

Jesus' coming closed that chapter of history. He came as the Law, and showed what it's true intentions were.

You are right, Jesus NEVER condoned harming another. He even scolded Peter for striking a member of the party that was arresting Jesus. One could make the argument that Peter was acting very noble, risking himself to protect Jesus. But Jesus told him "Those who live by the sword, die by the sword".

Does this sound like someone who would condone killing thousands of, or more, people?

Do you realize that more people have been killed (over 200 million) in wars or for political reasons (Cambodia, Stalin, etc.) in the last 100 years, then in the entire history of mankind?

I guess that's progress. Gee, I'm sure glad we are not like those ancient savages, aren't you?
